simplifying fert schedule

Are the various flourish products: Flourish, Excel, Potassium, Nitrogen, Trace compatible in a solution together, or do they tend to eat each other?

As all of the doses vary in quantity and frequency and I would like to simplify my daily routine, could I add up the total one week doses of all the products and add them all at once to say a liter of water then add 1/7th of this solution each day?

Or will the products tend to cancel each other out in solution together?

Thanks.

Re: simplifying fert schedule

To be honest, we do not recommend mixing any of the Flourish products together. The products are bottled separately for a reason (to prevent chemical interaction and precipitation from occurring).

Re: simplifying fert schedule

Just to let you know that I had the same question. When we go on vacation, I have been filling ice cube trays with the daily chemical doses for the two weeks or so and freezing them. Then the pet-sitter (for the cat) just drops one cube in each day. I do the same with the food for the animals. I really don't want the pet-sitter mixing and measuring the chemicals. Is it OK to do what I am doing, or is it better just to skip the dosing for two weeks?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Howard

Can you please indicate which products are being combined so we may answer your question effectively? Thank you.

Re: simplifying fert schedule

Thank you for the quick reply. I dose regularly with only Seachem products as follows: Fluorish, Excel, Potassium, Phosphorus, Iron and Trace. I have Nitrogen but the fish load seems to keep the Nitrogen right in balance without any additions. The only other dosing is 1 Tbsp Baking Soda for the pH for a 30 gallon water change. Substrate is 5 inches (105 Lbs) Fluorite Red.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Re: simplifying fert schedule

Thank you for the additional information. To be quite honest, we do not normally recommend mixing these products together in the same container. The products are bottled separately because this is the safest and most effective way of using them. We do not recommend putting Flourish, Flourish Trace, and Iron in the same dosing system because they contain similar elements and there is the possibility of overdosing with Iron. We also recommend keeping the phosphorus and iron in separate containers because of precipitation, but also do not want to risk overdosing Iron. As I said before, the best way to dose these products is separately. If you do not feel comfortable having someone else dose the chemicals while you're away, then it may be best to just skip the dosing during this time period. Hope this helps a bit!
